SPAM Prevention: The Key To Happiness SPAM is one of the number one complaints that Internet users express on a daily basis. On average, Brainstorm's mail servers process a little over 2 million pieces of email daily, and over 70% of that is junk mail which is rejected and never makes it's way to your Inbox. Here are a few things you can do to help in dealing with this daily frustration. Use an unusual email address - Try using a letter and number combination or using an unusual email domain. A lot of times spammers just guess at email addresses and the more unusual the email address the harder it will be for them to find you. Do not respond to SPAM - Responding to SPAM just confirms to the spammer that they have hit a live email address, which means you will get more SPAM. Opt out of email lists -When signing up or purchasing items online, do not accept email newsletters unless you are sure it is of interest to you. Often times, the box is clicked and you will have to unclick it so be sure to check for that carefully. Don’t submit your information to non-secure websites - secure website feature a lock icon at the bottom of your browser.. Do not post your email address on chat sites, IM or other public spaces Brainstorm also recommends that customers use a good SPAM filter.
